JobSea ("we", "us", "our") is an automated job application service operating at jobsea.co.za. We apply to jobs on your behalf using the information you provide. We are a South African business and are subject to the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information when you register and use JobSea:

Full name, email address, and phone number
Location (city/province)
Current job title and target role
Skills, work experience, and CV/résumé content
LinkedIn and portfolio URLs (optional)
Job preferences (industries, employment type, salary expectations)
Gmail OAuth token (if you connect your Gmail account)
Billing and payment information (processed securely via Stripe — we do not store card details)
Usage data (pages visited, features used, application history)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

Send job applications to employers on your behalf
Generate personalised cover letters and CV documents for each application
Send you daily and weekly application summaries and reports
Manage your subscription and process payments
Improve the accuracy and quality of job matching
Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. How We Share Your Information

Your personal information is shared only in the following limited circumstances:

Employers: Your name, contact details, skills, and CV are included in job application emails sent to prospective employers.
Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
Clerk: Authentication and identity management.
OpenAI: Your CV excerpt and job description are used to generate cover letters. No personally identifying information beyond what is in your CV is shared.
Job boards (Adzuna, Jooble, Indeed): We search these platforms to find suitable vacancies. Your data is not shared with them.
Legal requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority.

5. Gmail Integration

If you choose to connect your Gmail account, we request permission only to send emails on your behalf. We do not read, store, or access any of your existing Gmail messages. You may disconnect Gmail at any time from your Profile page, which immediately revokes our access.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription and close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records. Application history may be retained in anonymised form for service improvement purposes.

7. Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject under POPIA, you have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your personal information
Object to the processing of your personal information
Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed credentials, and access controls to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect your ability to use the service.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use of JobSea after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
